The MiniGrip Heads were originally designed with the idea that a lightweight, portable lighting system would be perfect for on-location shooting for the still-photographer, videographer or documentary film-maker. The system works well due to its ease of use and accessibility, and that is essentially what you are looking for. The two plates of the MiniGrip Head join together to form the grip head; they come apart and can be reformed with the headrest between them as shown in the picture on the previous page. Matthellini Clamps with a flat edge on the pin for extra gripping security against the T-handle of the MiniGrip Head extend out from the grip head to clamp onto the pipe. A camera mount, fastened in this instance in the middle of the pipe but in reality anywhere you want it, completes this low-tech camera mount system.

Below I have listed the parts involved along with their individual prices (click on an item to go directly to its corresponding page in the online catalog). The pipe can be variable length and should be ordered through a Matthews sales associate to make sure you get the correct size - not all car headrests are the same distance apart from each other. Click for larger imageI might mention that if you wish to mount the camera in the back of your car between the two sides of the vehicle, you can eliminate the clamps, grip heads and pipe and go straight to a product we manufacture called a Matthpole. This pole is designed with a locking mechanism and variable length pipe so that its extension is adjustable to any length desired. You may also wish to mount the camera directly onto the window. Matthews also makes a suction cup that will go directly onto the window or your car door. To get those hard to reach angles, the Matthews camera mount may articulate around in multiple directions for the best possible placement of the shot. Best of all, the cost of these camera mounting systems does not exceed $300. What more could you ask for?
