“They came from Brazil, the UK, Philippines, Canada – and of course, the States,” says Matthews Studio Equipment Vice President Tyler Phillips. “Cine Gear was the place to be – and the Dutti Dolly was the MSE piece of gear to see, touch and talk about.”
Everyone wanted to talk to James Saldutti – Dutti Dolly inventor – and to see the massive photo album of different rigs and a number of accessories MSE now offers for the Dutti Dolly.
The most vocal visitor – cinematographer James Muro ASC (Longmire, Billionaire Boys Club, SEAL Team, Southland, Shameless, Rush Hour 3).
When asked how he uses it – he recalled a recent night on Seal Team. “We were wrapping up an evening of photography and we pulled out a 10-foot section of pre-built track for the Dutti – with the third camera,” he recalled. “Other coverage was going on around a fire pit. Off to the side, I knocked out an ‘Oscar winning push in’ of the lead, David Boreanaz. I could hear the score in my mind’s eye as we were filming. Boom – that it is in the final cut. Dutti Dolly did it again!”
