“It was a time for a change,” says Ed Phillips, MSE CEO and co-founder. “Production is expanding globally, and it is important to us to keep up with the changes. So, we took a hard look at our sales staff – and made changes that will make our relationships stronger around the world.

“We’re excited that long-time Matthews Sales Manager, Linda Swope, has accepted the responsibility for leading and directing the entire sales team, bringing her 30 years of Matthews experience to the forefront – with lots of energy and knowledge,” Ed Phillips explains. “She started with the company when she was literally a teen!

“Joey Sherman, who has been a long-time rep for Matthews in the local Southern California retail market has now come onboard full time, assuming sales responsibility for the Asian and European market. In addition, Joey will assist Account Manager Edmundo Gonzalez in the West Coast handling the retail side,” Phillips continues.

“East Coast Account manager, Nick Rowland continues to use his knowledge of gripping to help solve problems for a wide variety of clients. And alongside Nick, our feet on the street, Ken Emker (AKA the Hulkster) continues to get bigger, faster and stronger by curling, squatting and bench pressing Super Cranks every chance he can get. But, in all seriousness, his service and product knowledge is top notch!” Phillips adds, getting serious.

MSE has also announced that Stuart Guerrero, a long time industry sales and service extraordinaire will now handle parts, service, and assistance to Europe and Asia clients.

Monica Perez, who started with Matthews 5+ years ago as MSE’s receptionist, was recently moved over into sales to assistant to manage a wide variety of tasks within the department.

Matthews is also excited to add new blood to the table – with the addition of Martin Torner to the team. “He brings a lot to the company, beginning with the fact that he is a well-trained professional Local 80 Grip,” Phillips adds. “Martin is smart, easy to talk with, and willing to share his expertise. You might have seen him on-camera in some of our newer video promos. If you haven’t seen them – check the videos out <<<>>>”

Working alongside Torner is 40-year MSE vet, Rick Hansen. “He knows where all the bodies are buried,” Phillips jokes. “Seriously, Rick (like Martin) is a specialist in just the right gear for every use. Both of them are available to consult on build outs, packages, custom gear and one-offs if needed.”

And last, but certainly not least, is Brian Collins (AKA “BC”, AKA, “Goose”) who continues to handle MSE’s Canadian territories like a champion…(You can read more about Brian in our previous issue).
