For over three years Matthews has been proud to supply support for the in-house video production team at Pechanga Resort & Casino. Pechanga shoots a tremendous amount of video content for the popular round-the-clock entertainment experience that is the seventh largest venue of its kind in the world. “MSE equipment is essential to capturing that excitement,” says cinematographer Mark Stock. “The equipment is built like a tank, which is important when you shoot in an environment like a casino. We’re often working near guests, so we need gear that is going to be safe and reliable.” According to Video Production...

When Brad Shapiro was a DP, he’d walk onto a set and almost cringe when he saw what he called a ‘gypsy’ look. “40 different C-Stands of different quality,” he tells us. Now that he’s a lighting rental house owner, he holds Location Lighting Limited to a higher standard. “That’s why we carry all Matthews gear,” he says. “We build our trucks to hold the majority of equipment on cars, limited interior shelving for track, frames, ladders and rags so the trucks are quick to unload or wrap,” he explains. “Take the 5-ton Grip Truck we recently used when shooting...

JJ Osbun and partner Chris D. Nebe are on their 15th Mysterious China Film – and about to start another. Recently the difference in their shooting style has come from Osbun's discovery of MSE equipment – especially the DC and HDDC-Slider from Floatcam. It is all my previous equipment in one unit, and far more versatile even then." The first time he used the HD was a...

“But, often times, we need to do a compound move but cannot fit the dolly into our shooting area. Or, there simply isn’t time for track set up,” he adds. “I’ve used sliders almost 10 years now and love them. But the need to do ‘more’ than a slider can do always was in the back of my mind. I wanted to do booms and diagonal moves – but could not with a standard slider. When I heard mention of this new style ‘slider’ on the horizon, I jumped at the chance to get my name in line to receive...

Idaho Cinematic Equipment

In 2007, when Idaho decided to get serious about the movie business, jack-of-all-trades Dan Allers was delighted. He got involved when the Film Task Force put together by the legislature and a group of professionals developed incentive programs to boost shooting in Idaho. “Finally, I could justify fulfilling my promise to myself and building a really good grip truck with MSE equipment. The only grip and lighting support that I knew could stand up to a long term investment,” he says enthusiastically. Allers was determined to give both the professionals who rolled into the Boise area everything they needed to...
