Shoot Better Headshots Anywhere: A Minimal-Gear, Natural Light Portrait Setup
Sometimes you don't need a light to get a warm, professional-looking headshot - you just need to know how to shape the light that's already there. This setup was shot outdoors using the sun itself at the key light, with a 40"x40" artificial silk to soften and blunt its harshness. A bounce card opposite the subject kicks light back into his face to fill in shadow. Because the setup is outdoors and exposed to potential gusts of wind, the 40" and 20" C-Stands holding the light modifiers are secured by 25lbs shot bags.
