“This was the first time everyone got to meet before the challenge began and it really helped boost morale and excitement. Matthews went above a beyond!” Katrina Medoff & Tracy Sayre, founders WWFC

Saturday February 16, Matthews opened its doors to the Women’s Weekend Film Challenge (WWFC). Dedicated to creating professional productions with women in every production role, Founders Katrina Medoff and Tracy Sayre have been been producing the event in New York City for the past 2 years and have ushered the finished projects into over 60 festivals and heralded numerous awards—thus far.

For their LA debut Matthews gave the participants run of the spacious Burbank California headquarters. And they needed it. Six separate projects with 30 crewmembers each assembled at the pre-production meeting. Medoff and Sayre laid down the rules for the challenge. Matthews President/CEO Tyler Phillips welcomed the filmmakers. RED and Zeiss provided cameras and lenses for each camera department. Writers, producers, and directors brainstormed. And teams enthusiastically connected before actual production slated to start the following Thursday. Watch for more on the red carpet premiere, next month.
